Face Mask

If your skin is looking a little dull and dry, why not revitalize your complexion in time for summer? Speak to a dermatologist about acne, book a course of laser hair removal or make your own cosmetics – from the comfort of your own home.

Concocting a natural beauty product’s never been easier, so check out these simple recipes:

Sweet potato face mask

Sweet potato is packed with vitamin A (which is great for skin) and is believed to have anti-aging properties – so give this face mask a try. Simply boil half a sweet potato for around twenty minutes (or until soft) and place in a food blender with one tablespoon of honey, one tablespoon of ginger powder and one tablespoon of almond milk. Whiz until smooth, apply to your face and leave for twenty minutes. The mixture smells great and should revamp your skin in no time. Wash off with lukewarm water and rub a few drops of olive oil into your complexion – what could be better?

Spinach and sea kelp face mask

A chemical peel can reduce lines and crow’s feet, but this natural spinach and sea kelp face mask can also help. The spinach (rich in vitamins A and K) is believed to combat wrinkles and the sea kelp’s said to make your skin soft and reduce puffiness. To knock up this anti-ageing mixture simply blend these two ingredients together to form a paste and apply it liberally to your face. Put your feet up for around twenty minutes before washing it off thoroughly. Repeat this process on a regular basis and you should notice that your skin looks smooth.

Banana and oat face mask

If you’re looking for an easy-to-make cosmetic, take a look at this banana and oat face mask – which should reveal your natural luminosity. Mash up one banana until all the lumps have gone and mix in two large tablespoons of rolled oats. Apply to your face and leave it for around half an hour – or until you have to go to work (sigh). When you wash it off, massage the oats into your skin as this will remove dead skin cells and should unblock your pores. You can also add honey to this mixture and can put two cucumbers over your eyes to reduce bags.

Avocado

There are many way to look beautiful throughout 2012, but a decent skincare product can make all the difference – and you don’t always have to go to your local beauty store to buy one. If you’ve got a few avocados lying around, mash them up and spread the mixture over your face. Avocadoes are believed to have anti-ageing properties and contain antioxidants that can purge free radicals. If your skin feels irritated, but the mixture in the fridge and enjoy a soothing, cooling face mask later in the day – perfect!

You can stay clear of chemicals and knock up some fantastic products in your very own kitchen.
