Most of us live very busy lives, where daily exercise can easily be put on the backburner.
Unfortunately this can wreak havoc with your health, as exercise is an essential component to a healthy lifestyle.
I learned this the hard way when I was working for an auto title loans in San Diego. The view outside my office window was gorgeous, but I was so busy juggling both my job and completing my online business masters degree program, that I rarely got time to go outside and exercise.
This wasn’t good news for my figure or health, as I rapidly gained 20lbs and my BMI grew completely out of whack. I was embarrassed by my ballooning weight and worried about the health implications, so I found creative ways to start exercising again, regardless of my busy day to day calendar.
Based on my experience, here are 5 ways you can incorporate exercise into your day, no matter how busy you are:
Take the Stairs
It may be tempting to take the convenient elevator, but taking the stairs is much better for your health. Try to take the stairs whenever you can, such as from the car park to your office or to your apartment. You’d be amazed how small steps such as this can help you become fitter and slimmer.
Work Out at Your Desk
This may sound embarrassing, but you can actually work out at your desk without anyone noticing! Sly butt and stomach clenches can go a long way in terms of strengthening and toning. If that’s not your thing, try lifting light weights while you take a lengthy call or are listening in on a webinar.
Take a Walk on Your Lunch Break
Get some fresh air during your lunch break by taking a walk in a nearby park or simply around your office building. Cardiovascular activity is essential for maintaining your health, so even a brisk twenty minute walk each day can really help you stay in shape. If you feel nervous about walking by yourself, enlist one of your office buddies to be your walking partner.
Work Out in the Morning
Few like to exercise first thing in the morning, but it can free up the rest of your day for more fun activities. Try getting up twenty minutes earlier than usual each day for a week and exercise during this time. Jog around your apartment or housing complex a few times or do some strength training exercises. Exercising in the morning can also help you be more energized for the rest of the day, which can help you be more productive at work and have more energy to stay awake for longer once you get home.
Make Exercise a Priority
If you make exercise a priority in your life, you will most likely be able to fit it into your busy schedule a lot more easily. If you don’t place daily exercise as something of extreme importance, you probably won’t get it done. Remind yourself every time you don’t want to exercise how much better it makes you feel and look and remind yourself of how much positive progress you have made.
Once I made exercise a priority and found unique ways to work in exercise into my daily routine, I quickly shed the excess weight while simultaneously gained more energy and physical strength. After my positive experience, I’d recommend anyone to put in the extra effort to work out as much as possible – no matter how busy their lives are. Good luck!
