Everyone has their own unproductive and bad habits. Getting rid of a habit isn’t really as difficult as it may seem. If you just follow these next simple and easy guidelines you can get rid of it in no time.
A bad habit can consist of anything from using drugs to picking your nose. Want to know something they have in common? They can both be fixed easily. When you find yourself doing a bad habit, all you have to do is stop and find something else to do.
Find a hobby you enjoy doing. If you like to draw, try drawing for a while. Find some way to productively occupy your time you spent doing these unproductive habits.
Another thing you can do is surround yourself with good friends who either help you fight these habits or they themselves don’t have the same problem. Either way, you don’t want to surround yourself with people who are going to encourage you to have a bad habit.
If your friends smoke, ask them to not smoke around you. If your friends pick their nose, ask them not to pick their nose around you. It’s the same basic principle. If you have a problem with over eating and your friends are going to a buffet, don’t be afraid to stay behind.
What I’m trying to say is you need to learn to take a risk and say no. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to. Everyone wants to be as healthy as they can possibly be. Your friends should want the same for you. If they don’t want you to be healthy, then they probably aren’t real friends.
So, surround yourself with good, productive friends, try out new hobbies, keep yourself busy, and in no time at all you will find yourself having more productive habits. I’ve also heard that if you are addicted to something that exercise can really help. So every time you feel the need to do whatever it is you are addicted to, go exercise for an hour. You can do anything from running on a treadmill to swimming in a pool. Get your heart rate up and you will feel like a whole new person.
