Time Management Tips: No More Excuses Not to Hit the Gym!

No Gravatar

gymWhen was the last time you used your gym membership? Do you even remember the way to your fitness club? If you find yourself bowing your head in embarrassment at these questions, then it’s high time that you get some help.

Admit it. Even as you’re reading this, a stubborn part of you rationalizes that you can’t be expected to still go to the gym after dealing with all the things you have on your plate. If you don’t want to end up dealing with seemingly irresolvable weight issues in the long run, then you better check out these tips to help you find the time to take your feet to the gym so as to achieve your fitness goals:

  • Plan Ahead

Making a weekly plan with all your long-term goals put into consideration will give you a clearer idea of when you could fit in valuable squats and lunges. Considering the many roles you have to perform, it’s easy to lose your focus. By planning for the entire week, you can factor in your multiple roles and goals and get things done.

  • Make a List and Prioritize

A to-do list will help you keep track of your various tasks and obligations. Try to keep the key items down to a maximum of seven and assign symbols for when the tasks should be completed. For example, you could draw stars next to the ones that should be accomplished first, another symbol for the ones that should be done after the star items, and another for things that aren’t so urgent. As each task gets done, tick them off the list.

  • Learn to Say “No”

You don’t have to do everything that others ask you to do. Learn to politely but effectively turn down some of their requests such as meeting you up at a bar down the road at 12 midnight to have a shot of tequila with them. Unless you signed up for a “let’s morning the night” contract, you shouldn’t be guilty about telling them that you can’t stay up too late.

  • Multitask

Not everything you do requires your full attention. Standing in line or waiting for your turn at a clinic gives you the opportunity to get some light work done. You could read office reports or plan a strategy for the next business meeting easily.

  • Observe Your Work Pattern

Observing your work pattern—what time of the day you get most of the work done, what time you feel the most energized, etc.—will allow you to schedule the most important tasks at the right hours and plan the less urgent obligations around them. In the end, you’ll find that you’ve made the most of your time and still have the energy to do that workout.

  • Sleep Early, Sleep Well

Let’s face it: this, perhaps, is the most important of all. You’ve always heard the advice about going to bed and getting up early so you have the full day ahead of you to get things done. Unfortunately, this may seem to be easier said than done, especially when you’re torn between your personal obligations and work commitments.

But be that as it may, even when you have to juggle between accomplishing your household chores and beating your work deadline, you still can train yourself to sleep early. You have to acknowledge the fact that if you don’t come out successful in implementing this routine, your timetable for the next day will be jeopardized. As soon as you learn how to organize your tasks, this trick should be feasible.

Do you find yourself tossing and turning in bed? If so, then try pampering yourself with a warm, soothing bath before bedtime. It should help you. Your bed and mattress also play a vital role in lulling you to a peaceful trip to dreamland. Pairing your bed with a reliable mattress—such as a memory foam, single, or double mattress—can be your best bet. One of the perks you can enjoy out of getting mattresses like these is the assurance that you’ll wake up the next day feeling very well-rested and totally ache-free. This means that you’ll have all the energy you need to face a hectic day ahead; a clear head to help you plan it effectively; and extra time to go to the gym!

Time is one of this world’s priceless treasures. Learning how to balance your work and personal life and organize all the other things you have on the side will pay for your ticket on your way to achieving a perfectly healthy and toned body. With these time management tips, you definitely have no more excuses not to visit the gym!
