We’re bombarded these days with weight loss quick fixes, scams, diet pills, liposuction, tummy tucks, fitness workout crazes, super-ab-exercise gear that requires no work, and tons of other marketing about weight loss every single day – but does any of it even work?
Despite the newest advancements in 6-pack-ab-workout-machines and toxic-diet-pill-science, Americans are getting more and more overweight – now over 70% of Americans are overweight or obese! And the statistics are almost as bad in Canada and the UK and most of Europe and Australia too!
Where did we go wrong?
I believe the biggest problem with dieting and weight loss today is that there is so much misinformation out there. There’s always someone trying to sell you something to make a quick buck – but will it even help you lose weight?
Take Ephedra, for example. A stimulant that was used for weight loss ended up killing people. And the people who made those pills KNEW that they were causing severe complications and death and yet they still continued to market it!
Or what about fad diet crazes? Many of these diet programs encourage dangerous dieting behaviors like eating 1,000 calories a day for extended periods of time. Others recommend you don’t eat fruits and vegetables because – o no – the carbs in fruits and vegetables are dangerous! Except there are now over 8,000 studies showing that fruits and vegetables reduce your risk for disease – and can help you lose weight naturally.
I think our biggest problem with weight loss is that we’re always looking for a quick fix… when what we really need is a lifestyle change. I guarantee that if you’re overweight, it didn’t happen overnight. And it didn’t happen in 1 week or even 1 month – so how can you expect to lose 50 pounds in 1 month with no work by buying some shiny new pill? It’s not gonna happen! And it could cause more harm than good!
That’s why I believe in all natural weight loss. To me, weight loss isn’t just about burning fat – it’s about living a healthy lifestyle. When you live a truly healthy lifestyle and focusing on eating a natural diet – rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, berries, whole grains, nuts and seeds, you can’t help but lose weight naturally. It’s the diet that’s worked for millions of years! It may not be as flashy as the newest diet craze – but I’d rather be really-really-old-fashioned and really, really healthy than be really-really-cool and really-really-sick!
